Harper’s Home at West Maynard

A Sooner Start: Opening to families this Fall

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, both our Target and Amazon housewarming registries are now completely fulfilled. Every single item, from shower rings to mattresses, has been purchased. We are beyond grateful to everyone who contributed, shared, and supported this initiative.

Because of you, our West Maynard homes are officially ready for the first family arriving in early September!

If you would still like to support Harper’s Home, you can help cover the ongoing cost of housing by making a donation. We also welcome gift cards to help families with groceries, household essentials, and daily expenses.

When a Child Is Sick, Every Minute Counts

Children with cancer and other serious conditions often need emergency care within 60 minutes of developing a fever. Delays can lead to life-threatening complications.

Too many families live far from Duke Children’s and have no reliable place to stay nearby. Harper’s Home exists to change that.

This fall, we’re opening our first location: two newly built homes in Durham’s Northgate Park neighborhood, just 3.7 miles from the hospital. These homes will give families safe, stable housing right when they need it most.

“When your child is seriously ill, everything feels scary and uncertain. These homes are one small way we can ease that burden. They offer comfort, proximity, and the simple reassurance of knowing you have a place to rest.”
